I love this app! My only complaint has always been that I could not use the keyboard arrow keys to flip pages while in reading my comics. THANKS to Tubuliferous for the tip on setting up keyboard shortcuts to make this work! Worked perfectly for me. Now this great app is even better!!

To bad they were not still making it available on the Mac App Store here in Canada, as I would happily paid for it now that I've had added it to my brand new iMac running Catalina (10.15.5). Happy it is still available on multiple download sites for free.

Thanks to Piere Oleo for this awesome app!

The organization interface is great. I love the ability to organize and sort my books without needing to move things around in a finder window, and the ability to search and put a single book into more than one folder easily (i.e. organizing it by series or primary characters or authors). I also love the ability to check the "read" box on books. I often forget which book I'm on in a series without having to look at a couple of pages.

My only critique is the clunkiness of the reading interface. There are default controls and....nothing else. I don't care for the two-finger scrolling requirement, the inability to go back a page without clicking on buttons, etc. Keyboard shortcuts for changing pages, view method, and scrolling would be phenomenal. Most importantly, though, is the ability to change those shortcuts once they're implemented. With those fixes, Ehon would be a SOLID, no-questions-asked 5. As it is, it's more of a 4.5ish. It's definitely worth the small price tag.

I'm so bummed. I had very high hopes for Ehon. Unfortunately, I have found it to be a poor ePub reader. None of my books display well and, more importantly, it's impossible to navigate a book (there's no way to get to the Table of Contents, etc.).

I read a lot of technical (programming) books. They're generally pretty long tomes. Let's say I want to jump to Chapter 20, several hundred pages in. I can do that once I find the ToC. However, if I start reading on my newly accessed page and then press the page forward or back buttons to go to the next page, it takes me to the previous/next page from the ToC and not where I am currently reading.

Also, the sidebar lists Page 1 …. Page End of Book. No chapter breakdowns to access a chapter … only pages. Quite ineffective for usability.

I genuinely wanted to love this app as I would love a nice, slick ebook reader. Still searching for that elusive app …

To all those who are concerned about the lack of keyboard shortcuts for changing pages, this is really a non-issue. To my knowledge, you can add keyboard shortcuts to any OS X application with menus through the Keyboard preference pane. This feature is a tragically underused convenience of OS X. I've set up Ehon to use the left and right arrow keys for page navigation.

Great application!
