BookLocker vs CreateSpace

Last updated: July 09, 2023
BookLocker and CreateSpace were two self-publishing platforms, but as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, CreateSpace has been absorbed into Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). However, I can provide a brief comparison based on the differences that existed between the two platforms at the time.

BookLocker is a self-publishing platform that offers a range of services for authors looking to publish their books. It provides a more traditional publishing model, where authors submit their manuscripts for review and potential acceptance by the platform. If accepted, BookLocker offers services such as editing, cover design, formatting, printing, and distribution. It guides authors through the publishing process and provides personalized assistance. BookLocker also pays higher royalties to authors compared to some other self-publishing platforms.

CreateSpace, on the other hand, was Amazon's print-on-demand publishing platform that allowed authors to easily create and distribute print books. It offered tools and services for formatting, cover design, printing, and distribution. CreateSpace seamlessly integrated with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), Amazon's e-book publishing platform, allowing authors to offer both print and digital versions of their books. However, as of my knowledge cutoff, CreateSpace has been absorbed into KDP Print, and authors can now access print-on-demand services through KDP.

BookLocker
Booklocker.com is an online bookstore that sells print and ebooks on all subjects - from everyday to unusual and eclectic - by new authors. While firms like Author Solutions (owner of AuthorHouse, Xlibris, iUniverse, Trafford and more) are squeezing authors out of thousands to tens of thousands of dollars (which we’re betting most authors will never recover in resulting book sales), BookLocker is going in the opposite direction – offering new publishing packages for any budget. By popular demand, we have launched a no-setup-fee D.I.Y. Publishing Program where authors can submit pre-formatted PDF files and pay no setup fees.
