There is no "free" trial version for a start, you then get sent to a sales page, which displays an "official" price of $25 but it isn't clear that you can only use the software for one year and then you have to pay again (for a measly 10% "discount") or buy a "lifetime" license, which costs $50.

There is also no mention of the permanent discounts offered where you can get the "lifetime" version for $35. So even their private sales offer to you to purchase a new license for $45 is mean and deceptive.

SECURITY ALERT

Also be aware that it is a Chinese company based in Wuhan. So you are taking a huge privacy and safety risk by installing this software on your computer. As a Chinese company, they do not comply with consumer and privacy laws in the EU, USA, Canada or Australia.

This means that they sell your personal and private information to spammers and list builders.

DO NOT under any circumstances provide personal details such as a scan of your passport, your address or credit card details.

Although they sell the product via an intermediary (Avangate in Holland), they are unlikely to resolve any disputes you have regarding their deceptive selling policies and cannot prevent them from gaining access to your private data.

Watch out for sneaky, misleading sales tactics. You will be led to buy a "one-year" license, sometimes for a very attractive discount, only to find that you can't use the software a year later and then you will be offered a 10% discount for the lifetime version (from $50). There are coupons available at all times for a lifetime license for $35.

That's the actual price of the software, but Epubor will try to get you to pay more at every turn.

Otherwise it works reasonably well. But you MUST have Adobe Digital Editions that is activated to your computer and a DRM version of the book if you want to be able to remove the DRM.

Calibre can do the same thing for free (you need to get a DRM removal plugin) but it's a bit more fiddly.
