BookFusion vs Calibre

September 17, 2025 | Author: Maria Lin
BookFusion and Calibre are both cross-platform book reading and management software that support multiple e-book formats. They include book search, annotation and note-taking tools, sorting books by author, cover, description, tags and collection export/import.

But BookFusion is a cloud service with mobile apps for iOS and Android that syncs your books and notes across devices. It's convenient for collaborative library management and group reading. For example, you can use this service to distribute and share eBooks with members of your organization for businesses, non-profits and schools. The service has a built-in store for purchasing books. It's free to use, but some features require a paid subscription.

Calibre is completely free and open-source software that runs only offline on desktop (Windows, Linux, Mac). There's no mobile app. However, it offers a huge range of plugins and extensions for a wide variety of functions. But Calibre's own functionality also significantly surpasses BookFusion's – it has metadata editor, format converter, synchronization with e-readers, much more fields for sorting and organizing books, built-in web server and automation scripts. The interface is more complex than BookFusion's.
