2023. Amazon released AI guidelines for Kindle Direct Publishing

Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing platform has released clear guidelines for authors and small publishers who use AI to create content on the platform. The company now requires authors to report AI-generated content (text, images or translations) when publishing a new book. It not only about text, but also AI-generated images including covers and interior illustrations. Amazon has also separated "AI-assisted content" from "AI-generated content". If you created the content yourself and then used AI-powered tools to improve it (for example, to check for grammar errors), then it is considered AI-assisted. If you used an AI tool to initially create the content, it is considered AI-generated, even if then you made significant edits. Authors only need to report AI-generated content.
