Kobo Clara
Kobo Clara always provides the best light for reading day or night with ComfortLight PRO. You can adjust brightness and color temperature to reduce blue light before bedtime. It has a natural, print-like reading experience on its 6" glare-free high-definition 300 PPI screen. Easily customizable features help you read the way you want to.

Pocketbook Verse
6-inch ereader that has audio output with Text-to-Speech. You can switch from reading a book to listening to it anytime: just two clicks and the e-reader will start reading aloud while you do your daily routine. The natural-sounding voices available with Text-to-Speech guarantee that your book does not lose any detail or emphasis.
Kobo Clara HD and PocketBook Verse are both black-and-white e-Ink readers but I think they target different types of users.

Kobo Clara HD (available since 2018) is connected to Kobo’s online bookstore that makes it a better choice for those who prefer to buy books instead of downloading them for free. PocketBook Verse (released in 2023) has built-in OverDrive integration for borrowing free library books and also supports various ebook formats (like FB2, TXT) that can't be read on Kobo devices.

Clara HD is smaller and lighter. It has Carta display - good for low-light reading. Verse's advantage is physical buttons for turning pages (some people prefer this to swapping the screen). Besides it provides microSD slot for extra storage.

In terms of software, Clara HD offers quite simple UI for reading and buying books while PocketBook provides extra apps and even has a web browser.
