2023. Kobo releases new update focused on note-taking

Kobo has released a firmware update for Kobo Elipsa that contains a number of improvements for note-taking. Among these improvements are new note templates, such as musical notations and calligraphic text notes, as well as the ability to search for handwritten notes within a notebook. In basic notebooks, users can now create shapes by drawing and holding the pen (for example it can turn drawn circle into perfect one). Additionally, the update adds to notes a Lasso feature that allows to select, move, delete, copy, resize areas and convert handwritten notes to typed text. Users can now conveniently organize their notebooks into folders and protect them by enabling the notebook backup feature, which saves them to Kobo's cloud. Additionally (in the advanced notebooks) you can now adjust line spacing and highlight text using the button on the stylus. Finally, the update includes the new brightness icon in the Laptops section to improve readability in different lighting conditions.
