Scrivener and bibisco are both cross-platform programs for book writers. They allow to structure text into chapters and scenes, offer note-taking and planning tools, enable easy project navigation, store and organize research materials and support book export to popular formats.

Scrivener, however, offers more flexible project organization with extensive customization options. It features convenient viewing modes, like Corkboard and Outliner, a library of templates for different text types, powerful layout and export tools, ability to store files of any type directly in the project, snapshot support for text versioning. However, Scrivener is a more expensive program.

bibisco is a simpler program focuses on character and world development. It has a minimalist intuitive interface, supports plotline visualization and precise control over the novel's structure. Another origianl feature - built-in character questions and questionnaires. The project is stored in a single file for ease of portability. bibisco offers a free version with basic features.
