Here are the latest news about BookBaby:
2016. BookBaby launched e-Book editing service

BookBaby has introduced a new editing service for self-published writers. They will copy-edit a 60,000-word eBook for under $1,200, which is 50% less than other competing premium services. Finding a skilled e-book editor can be challenging for a debut or first-time writer. Many end up searching online to find an affordable option or sometimes encounter Author Solutions, which uses aggressive upselling tactics. “Every book requires editing—that’s a well-known fact,” says BookBaby President Steven Spatz. “Now every author can access the high-quality editing they need. Our aim was to offer a cost-effective solution for self-publishing authors while upholding the quality they expect and deserve.”
2014. BookBaby allows authors to sell books directly to users

Self-publishing provider BookBaby is launching a new service BookShop that enables authors to sell their eBooks directly to readers through their own free BookShop e-commerce pages, earning more per sale and receiving payments faster than ever before. BookBaby authors can offer ePub and .mobi versions of their eBooks directly to readers (earning 85% of the gross selling price) and also direct fans to their eBooks on popular retail sites like iBooks, Amazon, Barnes & Noble and others. Additionally, instead of retaining authors’ payments for weeks or even months like other distributors and retailers, BookBaby pays its authors within one week of the sale. BookShop is available free to every BookBaby author, including those using the company’s new FREE eBook publishing package. Authors can upload ePub files directly to BookBaby for global distribution with no upfront costs.

I wish they'd have a way for the author to offer free shipping. I have learned the slightly-excessive shipping and handling charges they apply to each sale has been a deterrent to sales, but the only thing one can do currently is to offer a discount coupon that backs out the amount in the checkout page. Not in the least bit ideal.
