iReader has unveiled the Light 3 e-reader, targeting a younger audience, as previously speculated. The new Light 3 e-reader sports a 6-inch E Ink Carta 1200 screen and features animated page-turning. Remarkably lightweight at just 149 grams, it stands as one of the lightest options available. iReader has incorporated AI dynamic refresh technology and an independent display chip into the Light 3. Furthermore, this e-reader boasts a next-generation display IC, resulting in a 20 percent faster response time and a 15 percent improvement in contrast, according to iReader. With a 1700mAh battery, it can endure up to 40 days on a single charge, and it offers a Type-C port for swift recharging and data transfer. Additional features of the Light 3 include built-in speakers and microphones, with iReader noting support for AI recitation.


2023. Pocketbook Inkpad 4 gets 7.8-inch screen


Pocketbook announced the release of a new ereader called the Pocketbook Inkpad 4. It has a 7.8-inch E Ink Carta 1200 screen and a frontlight with temperature control. It has 32GB of storage space, built-in speakers for audiobooks and text-to-speech, and it’s waterproof with an IPX8 rating. Other specs for the PocketBook InkPad 4 include a USB-C port, a rotation sensor, a dual-core processor, it has WiFi and Bluetooth, and it has a 2000mAh battery. The overall design of the PocketBook InkPad 4 looks quite nice, though, with similar characteristics to the design of the PocketBook Era, which is actually really nice all except for the horribly washed-out screen. The newer E Ink Carta 1200 screens have better contrast, but it doesn’t matter when they add a cloudy flush front layer over the top of it.


2022. Onyx Boox upgrades its note-taking ereader Nova 5



Onyx Boox has introduced an updated version of its Nova5 e-reader, featuring a 7.8-inch E Ink Carta 1200 display with a resolution of 1872 x 1404 and a pixel density of 300 PPI. Powering the device is a 2.0GHz Qualcomm octa-core processor paired with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, with support for external memory expansion of up to 512 GB. Running on Android 11, the e-reader offers 2.4G and dual-band 5G wireless connectivity. It is equipped with a 2000 mAh battery for reliable power supply. The Nova5 also includes a highly sensitive microphone and a dual-speaker setup for enhanced audio. Conveniently positioned on the left side are the page-turn buttons, while a Type-C port enables easy charging and data transfer. Weighing a mere 240 grams, the Nova5 ensures effortless portability. Priced at $277, it comes bundled with the BooxPen Plus for added convenience.


2022. Onyx Boox Leaf 2 gets Android 11 and bigger battery



Onyx Boox has unveiled the Leaf2, a 7-inch E Ink reader equipped with a Carta 1200 panel boasting a resolution of 1680 x 1264 and a pixel density of 300 PPI. This e-reader offers a generous 2 GB of memory and 64 GB of internal storage, making it one of the highest in its category. Furthermore, users have the option to expand the storage capacity by up to an additional 512 GB through external means. The Leaf2 is powered by a 2.0 GHz Qualcomm processor, and its operation is sustained by a 2000 mAh battery, ensuring several days of usage before requiring a recharge. Running on Android 11, the device supports 2.4G Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity. Additional features include a USB Type-C interface, an integrated microphone, and support for single speaker audio output. Weighing a mere 180 grams, the Leaf2 is exceptionally lightweight and easy to handle. It also includes a set of buttons that serve the functions of Power and Page Turn. The e-reader is competitively priced at $205.


2022. Kyobo Book Centre launches Sam 10 Plus e-note-reader



The Kyobo Book Centre, South Korea's largest bookstore chain, has introduced the Sam 10 Plus, a new 10-inch E Ink e-note device. Unlike its predecessor, the Sam 7.8, the Sam 10 Plus includes stylus pen support, enabling users to take notes or annotate e-books. With a 3900 mAh battery, the device can sustain operations for several days, if not weeks, and can be fully recharged in approximately three hours through its Type-C port. Notably, it runs on Android 12, allowing users to download and install compatible apps from the Play Store. The e-note supports various e-book formats such as ePUB, PDF, TT, and ZIP, and also features an integrated speaker and file manager support. The price of the Sam 10 Plus is approximately $265 USD.


2020. Xiaomi launches Moann inkPad X e-reader



Xiaomi has recently introduced the Moann inkPad X e-reader, which stands out for its integration of Google Android 8 and the ability to sideload custom applications. The InkPad X showcases a sizable 10.3-inch E INK Carta HD display with a resolution of 1600 x 1200 and a pixel density of 250 PPI. Notably, it offers a front-lit display and a color temperature system to enhance reading comfort. Underneath its sleek design, the device houses an ARM quad-core Cortex-A7 chip clocked at 1.8GHz, accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage.
