2023. Apple to bring books to virtual reality

According to Bloomberg's tech reporter, Mark Gurman, who has a proven track record of accurately reporting on Apple's product plans, Apple is developing a version of Apple Books that can be used on their upcoming Apple VR headset, allowing users to read books in a virtual reality environment. The headset is also expected to be compatible with other Apple products such as iPhones and iPads, making it convenient for users to switch between devices and access their favorite content. Apple has not confirmed the leaked information and more details about the VR headset may be revealed at WWDC 2023. It is possible that the features mentioned in Gurman's article may not be included at Apple VR launch and may not be announced this year.

2023. Sol Reader - E Ink headset for hands-free e-reading

Startup Sol Reader has invented a headset, or rather a head-mounted display that uses the e-paper panels and is designed to take e-reading to a new level altogether. The company did have a prototype to show off at the CES 2023. The Sol Reader is a simple device weighing just about 100 grams. It is designed to allow for a more comfortable hands-free reading experience, like being able to read a book while lying down. You might argue you are able to do that with the Kindle or other e-readers out there but with the Sol Reader, you are not required to constantly hold something with your arms. Instead, you just put on the Sol Reader HMD and control the display – read flipping pages – with a simple controller that you can operate with your fingers. It provides a battery life of 30 hours on a single charge, which is pretty much decent for a device with such a compact form factor. In fact, it can easily last a couple of weeks and can be recharged via the USB-C port it comes with.
