2021. Serial fiction app Radish acquired by Kakao Entertainment

Serialized fiction app Radish will be acquired by South Korean internet conglomerate Kakao Entertainment for $440 million. Radish initially concentrated on user-generated content, but now the main focus of its business is Radish Originals, or serialized fiction series created specifically for the app. Radish boasts millions of users in North America and the acquisition will assist Kakao Entertainment in expanding its webtoons and web novel business both there and in other English-speaking markets. Radish will maintain management independence and continue operating under its own brand.
2020. Dorian - interactive storytelling platform
The online service Dorian, in what can only be described as a spirited attempt to bring the universe of storytelling to heel, has concocted a marvelously whimsical toolkit for fiction writers and storytellers. With nary a whisper of code, one can summon characters and backgrounds from a trove of visual assets (or, in the fullness of time, upload their own creations, perhaps culled from the depths of their imagination or a particularly inspired doodle). Through the arcane art of flowcharting—less a chart and more a labyrinth of delightful chaos—writers can interweave scenes and sprinkle player choices like confetti. And for those who feel that storytelling is best done with a dash of camaraderie, real-time collaboration is not just encouraged; it’s baked right into the grand cosmic design.
