2022. Mendeley unveiled new Reference Manager for researcher workflow



Free scientific paper management software Mendeley has launched a new suite comprising of three integrated applications. The first application, Mendeley Reference Manager, can be installed on your desktop or used as a web application. With this, you can effortlessly organize all your references in one library using collections and tags. You can also quickly find important references by using keyword search and filtering. The built-in notebook feature helps you keep your thoughts organized in one place. The second - Mendeley Cite - allows you to generate citations and bibliographies with ease. You can change citation styles with just a few clicks using the new Mendeley Cite add-in for Microsoft Word. Finally, the third application, Mendeley Web Importer, is an extension that you can add to your browser to easily build your library of references as you search online. The new suite also boasts a clearer, more intuitive look and functionality, making it easy to get started and manage your references efficiently.


2018. Zotero allows to scan books from iPhone or iPad



Reference management software Zotero has introduced a new convenient way to add printed books to your library. If you have iPhone with at least iOS 12, you can now scan a book’s barcode to automatically add it to Zotero. To use this feature, you’ll need to install Apple’s Shortcuts app (if you don’t already have it). Then, simply set up the “Scan Book to Zotero” shortcut by tapping the special link on your iPhone and choose “Open in Shortcuts.” If you have an iPhone with 3D Touch, you can also access the shortcut by long-pressing the Shortcuts app icon and choosing “Scan Book to Zotero” from the widget pop-up.


2016. ProQuest has revamped the RefWorks platform to simplify the process of research and collaboration.



ProQuest has released a new version of its RefWorks reference management platform, designed to simplify and improve research and collaborative workflows for students and librarians. The platform features new WYSIWYG editor for customizing citations inserted into documents, as well as a built-in PDF reader with annotation and collaboration features. New access controls have been added to help libraries manage copyright compliance. Additionally, new plugins for Microsoft Office 2016 and Google Docs eliminate the need for traditional uploads. The new version also leverages Summon's proprietary citation discovery index, with 2.6B records, to check, correct and improve citations, increasing research efficiency.
